Relationship Between Rain Attenuation and Depolarization Up to 100GHz

چکیده

The Relationship between rain attenuation and depolarization at frequencies above 10GHz is useful for designing high-speed out-door wireless systems, such as satellite communication, millimeter FWA(Fixed Wireless Access) system and so on. Due to rapid growth of and strong demand for high speed communication, usage of millimeter wave bands in wireless system becomes in reality. The objective of this paper is to extend the applicable frequency range up to 100 GHz for the relationship between rain-attenuation and crosspolarization discrimination (XPD) proposed by Fukuchi et al.[1] by using the forward scattering amplitudes of the Pruppacher-Pitter type deformed raindrops at 50 frequencies from 6 to 100 GHz and by assuming several raindrop-size distributions.
